  • Getting Started With Git – Step 1: Clone Remote Git Repository on Your Computer
Description: Each semester, I create a Remote Git Repository that my Senior Capstone classes use to collaboratively author a static Web site. Please consult the resource entry below for the name of the repository that we are using this semester. Follow the instructions in the tutorial videos below in order to create a cloned copy of this repository on your local computer.
Submit to: The results of this step will reside on your computer. So, there is nothing to submit from this step. Nevertheless, you must complete this step in order to do Step 2. The results of Step 2 will be graded.
    • Tutorial Video: Clone Remote Repository (Windows 10)
    • Tutorial Video: Clone Remote Repository (macOS)
    • Repository Name: senior_capstone_spring_2019. This is a private repository that I created. I am the owner. In order for you to access this repository, I must have already granted you access. This semester, I am granting user access by adding you to a BitBucket user group named "Spring 2019 Senior Capstone Students". When I created the group, I used your UWM email address to give you access. If you already had a BitBucket account associated with your UWM email address, then you were added to the group immediately. If you had not yet set up a BitBucket account associated with your UWM email address, the BitBucket server sent you an email invitation to set up an account and join the group. If you are looking for your invitation email and can't find it, then it may have been caught in your "junk" folder or your "clutter" folder. If you can find the invitation email only to discover that its time limit has expired, then you will need help from us in order to have the invitation resent. In that case, use the Request Center Portal for this course to send us a request. Describe your problem and include your UWM email address. We will then resend an invitation to join the group.
  • Getting Started With Git Step – 2: Modify Your Web Page. Commit. (Pull). Push.
Description: Follow the instructions in the tutorial video below to locate your individual page in the shared Web content as it exists in the local copy of the repository on your computer. Modify your page as indicated. Commit your change to your local repository. Remember to PULL CHANGES from the remote repository BEFORE YOU PUSH YOUR CHANGES to the remote repository. Finally, push your changes to the remote repository.
Submit to: This step will be graded. We will not be using a traditional dropbox approach for submission. Instead, we will be looking at the updates that you have committed and pushed to the remote repository.
Class Participation Assignments Due (Forum Posts)
  • Week 4 Update on Project Selection & Team Formation
Description: There is 1 week remaining before you are expected to have selected a project and formed a project team. Post an update on your individual progress toward that goal. Use this space to reach out to others in the class.
