Topics	Introductions Review of Syllabus Working With Eclipse Introduction to Java Programming
Computing Setup	Before our first class meeting, each student should prepare their own computer by installing and testing the software that will be needed for this course. To do so, please follow the directions in the following tutorial videos. Tutorial Video: Install Java on OS X Tutorial Video: Install Java on Windows Tutorial Video: Install Eclipse on OS X Tutorial Video: Install Eclipse on Windows Tutorial Video: Create a Simple Java Program Using Eclipse (OS X or Windows)
Required Readings	Course Syllabus Reges & Stepp (4th edition): Chapter 1 - Introduction to Java Programming

Class Discussion Prep	Introduce Yourself My experience with this class is that it works best when it is highly interactive. We will begin that approach by having each of us introduce ourselves. This should be a short introduction that takes 1 - 2 minutes. Please include: your name, your academic program, work that you do (both inside and outside of the home), your prior experience with programming, and (most important) what you would like to get out of this class. Please remember to use the Audio Setup Wizard with your headset when you log into Blackboard Collaborate. This will insure that your headset is working when it is your turn to speak.
