Online Dropin Session
On Monday evenings, I will be holding an Online Drop-In Session using the GoToMeeting platform. Students are invited to join us to discuss questions and issues concerning the class. This will serve as an opportunity to meet and start discussions with other students in the class. I expect this to be particularly useful during the early part of the semester when we are forming teams. Your experience will be best when you are using a headset. You may join the GoToMeeting session using this link.

  • Thoughts Regarding Collocation of Agile Teams
Description: The readings in Part II of the Layton book cover the practical aspects of organizing a project so that it can be managed in an agile way. One important point that Layton makes is that we should "collocate" the team. This means that your team should all be working in the same room. While that might be ideal, it is not very feasible for the on-campus section of this course and it is virtually impossible for this online section. So, what ideas can you suggest that might help your team get some of the same benefits that Layton claims for collocation without actually being able to collocate?

  • Team Formation - Brainstorm (Step 1 of 4)
Description: During this first week of team-related activities, our goal is to identify as many possible projects (and/or clients) as possible. Our approach is going to be classic brainstorming. You should post as many ideas as you can think of for project or client candidates. When brainstorming, we typically begin by welcoming all possible ideas without criticism. Only after the ideas have been contributed, do we begin to collect feedback from participants on which ideas seem the most promising or appealing. Having identified as many possibilities as we can, the class should expect to explore these possibilities with their client prospects during the week ahead. These inquiries with potential clients will help us identify the most promising project prospects in the next step.
